Tennis Tip #14: The Modern Forehand

Arrowhead Tennis teaching professional Nick Hansen discusses how to hit the modern forehand in this video. There are a lot of ways to hit the forehand, and here is one great way to do it. Using a semi-western grip, raise your racquet in a loop rather then taking it straight back. The string should face to the side and then to the back wall as you loop through. The butt end of your racquet should be facing the ball as you power through the shot. Keep your wrist firm enough that it does not wobble on contact, but loose enough so that you can brush over the ball. Follow through with your bicep coming up to your chin. Make sure to stay low to the ground and balanced, loading weight on your back foot. That is a little bit about the modern forehand!
