In this video Arrowhead Tennis teaching professionals Nick Hansen and Kolin Dean demonstrate how to play against the very defensive player, who are sometimes called pushers or human backboards because they get everything back and rarely miss. This is a very difficult player to go up against. Against the defensive player, make sure to be patient, keep your feet moving and re-adjusting your feet because defensive players often use lots of spin. Also, try to get to the net to finish points off, and also draw your opponent into the net using a drop shot, because oftentimes defensive players are not very comfortable volleying or hitting overheads. Also, learn from the defensive player, everyone can learn how to be more consistent which may be the most important thing to raising your level of play!
